IT Legislative Councillor Charles Mok today tabled a Council question to the government on the Distance Business Programme (D-Biz). It is revealed that the Hong Kong Productivity Council so far received 8 665 applications which are currently under processing. 3 525 IT service providers had applied to enrol on the Reference List, 2 023 were approved and the remaining processing.
With the D-Biz Programme in high demand, Mok called on the government to implement four improvements so that the ICT and other sectors can benefit from the Programme. The four measures include:
1. Fast-track the vetting process to provide immediate relief to companies.
2. Injection of $10 billion to the Programme to benefit more companies.
3. The requirement that projects should only commence upon funding approval should be relaxed and aligned with the TVP practice.
4. More assistance offered to applicants and launch FAQ to assist in application.
