Urging government to implement flexible work arrangement for IT staff
In light of the recent spike in local coronavirus cases, the government has once again implemented special work arrangement. However, I received complaints from civil servants that many are deprived of remote working. I have pursued the complaint cases with the Civil Service Bureau and the Department of Health.
Urging RTHKs to stand firm on freedom of speech
Together with 12 members from the RTHK Programme Advisory Panel, we submitted 250,000 signatures gathered from an online campaign we initiated in February to the Director of Broadcasting. Along with the signatures we also issued four demands, urging RTHK to stand firm on freedom of speech.
Guarding free speech and freedom of press in Hong Kong
The Chinese Foreign Ministry earlier issued its decision to order journalists from three US newspapers to return media passes and prohibit those journalists from working in Mainland China, including Hong Kong and Macau. I expressed strong indignation that this decision from the Chinese authority has breached the Basic Law and will further erode press freedom under the principle of One Country, Two Systems and Hong Kong’s status as an international financial centre if the Hong Kong government complies with the ban.
